FOR STILLBIRTH CERTIFICATE 1916-1947 RESEARCH

I will need to know  (1) the full names of both parents;  (2) the year, month(s) and county (and if Cook County, it would be very helpful to know if occurred in Chicago city-proper, or outside the city limits).

My fee for Stillbirth searches is $18 per hour; if found, my regular printing fee of $5 would then apply.

Stillbirth certificates in Illinois, from 1916-1947, were filed separately from the standard IL death certificates, and are not indexed - but they ARE microfilmed by county, then by month... then (more or less) by city/town/township/date......)

CAVEAT - There is a gap in the statewide Stillbirth certificate holdings, on microfilm at the IL State Archives; they do NOT have any Stillbirth certificates issued anywhere in Illinois during the years 1943, 1944 and 1945.  For some reason, these were omitted during the microfilming of certificates at IL Dept of Public Health. Stillbirth certificates issued in Illinois 1943-1945 (inclusive), will only be available for purchase either from IDPH, or from the appropriate County Clerk's office (in the county of birth).

I'm adding this research service, because in the recent past, I was requested to search for two separate individuals who were considered to be stillborn.

The first research request - was for a female stillbirth, probably born Chicago (city proper), who was born/died approximately a year before the birth of the parents' second child (late Dec 1938).  The requestor was able to give me the information I needed (see below) to conduct the search - which took me 1 hour 5 minutes to find & print the elusive stillbirth certificate.

In that 65 minutes, I researched through both Chicago and Cook Co (outside Chicago) stillbirth certificates for: Dec 1937; Nov 1937; Jan 1938;  - then I concentrated on Chicago (city proper) stillbirths - for Oct 1937; Sept 1937; and August 1937 --- and in early August 1937, I was able to find the missing stillborn infant's certificate.

The second research request - was for an infant who was born/died in Cook Co (hospital), on a date specified by the requestor.  This research took me 40 minutes, to cover all the possible "bases" - with no results; there were no stillbirths registered during that entire month - for Chicago, or Cook County - with the surnames of the father OR the mother.

I cannot explain the lack of results when the birth/death date was so specific... I wish I could, and had answers to all the questions posed me.  I can only find documents based upon your own research (or hunches, ideas, deductions) - - I am only a physical extension-arm of, and for, your own research.
